Helen V. Yount, 101, formerly of this area, passed away February 6, 2023 at Sunrise of Clayton Assisted Living in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born December 23, 1921 at Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Preceded in death by her her husband of 62 years, Delmon Yount;

by parents, Anthony C. Statler and Myrtle 'Cook' Statler,

and by 2 sisters and 1 brother.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Yount and wife Elizabeth,

3 grandchildren, Katherine Tonsi and husband Max,

Michael Yount and Christopher Yount and fiance' Claire,

great grandsons, Jack and Ford.

She was a teacher in the Central and Elvins High Schools for over 32 years, where she was active in clubs and other activities.

After retiring she learned to play golf and you could find her and Del on the golf course most days, weather permitting.

She also adored her grandchildren and was always a willing babysitter.

A private service was planned February 15, 2023 at St. Francois Memorial Park Mausoleum, Bonne Terre, Mo.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to BJC Hospice.
